Dr. Frankenstein Turns Against His Monster

I'm not going to talk about the president's speech.  He is intellectually bereft, and perhaps the most economically ignorant president in the nation's history.  I will give him credit for pulling off a singularly unprecedented act :  Last night was the first time a sitting president kicked off his reelection with a campaign speech delivered to both houses of congress.  Kudos to President Obama!  Even FDR never dared to be so brazen, and the utter shamelessness of it was impressive.

On to some real news...

The federal agency that oversees the mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac is set to file suits against more than a dozen big banks, accusing them of misrepresenting the quality of mortgage securities they assembled and sold at the height of the housing bubble.  (NY Times)

This reminds me of when the elder George Bush took down Panamanian caudillo Manuel Noriega. The left snidely (if not inaccurately) pointed out that Noriega was a monster of US design, so ex-CIA Chief Bush was just cleaning up his own mess.

Don’t get me wrong. I want to see these criminals marched off to jail, along with the ratings agencies and the AIG crooks who insured them and then got billions in federal funds when the scheme collapsed. But the feds need to go a step further and put Fannie and Freddie in the docket as well. And while we’re at it, let’s put the FHA itself on trial. How much taxpayer money have they wasted? What exactly was their role in aiding and abetting all of this financial malfeasance?

A Dirty Cop Bring Down the Perp

Do you see what's wrong with the FHA filing suit?  They were in on this criminal enterprise! This is how dictatorships operate. Look to Russia or Venezuela for examples. The crony crapitalist government gets in bed with the private sector and they throw wild multi-billion dollar orgies at taxpayer expense. It’s all good during the fat times, but when the inevitable collapse occurs, the regime puts it's official uniform back on, including the tin badge, and arrests its fellow partiers.

So by all means, go after these crooks, but don’t stop at the private sector.  Take down the government crooks as well.  They were the criminal kingpins who hosted the parties.

A Man Takes a Stand

We should all stand up and applaud Philadelphia mayor Michael Nutter for telling it like it is to the wayward youth of his city

Here's his message:

“Take those God-darn hoodies down, especially in the summer,” Mr. Nutter, the city’s second black mayor, said in an angry lecture aimed at black teens. “Pull your pants up and buy a belt ‘cause no one wants to see your underwear or the crack of your butt.”

“If you walk into somebody’s office with your hair uncombed and a pick in the back, and your shoes untied, and your pants half down, tattoos up and down your arms and on your neck, and you wonder why somebody won’t hire you? They don’t hire you ‘cause you look like you’re crazy,” the mayor said. “You have damaged your own race.”

He also delivered a message to parents:

“The Immaculate Conception of our Lord Jesus Christ took place a long time ago, and it didn’t happen here in Philadelphia,” Mr. Nutter said. “So every one of these kids has two parents who were around and participating at the time. They need to be around now.”

The mayor told parents, “If you’re just hanging out out there, maybe you’re sending them a check or bringing some cash by. That’s not being a father. You’re just a human ATM. … And if you’re not providing the guidance and you’re not sending any money, you’re just a sperm donor.” ( Washington Times)

Finally, he told violent gangs in no uncertain terms that the city is coming after them. They better listen up. This is the city where Mayor Frank Rizzo firebombed a block of row houses going after leftwing radicals.

This is a black man delivering a message to the black young men of his city, but the message transcends race, gender and life’s station. We all need to pull our damned pants up, and pull out heads out. 

Law and Liberty Crucified

A few who post here have mentioned that regardless of how we talk about liberty, there still must be an authority wielding the threat of punishment.  Our governments are supposed to do that, but they are corrupted and incompetent.

The ruling elite won't go after Wall Street looters because they need their money, and they won't go after main street moochers because they need their votes.  They strip us and rape us at the airport, but they are unable or unwilling to do the hard work of shutting down lawlessness in our cities and on our borders.

They go after Bernie Madoff for a billion dollar ponzi scheme while running a trillion dollar one of their own.
 
They will shut down kids' lemonade stands for selling fifty-cent drinks without a permit, while they refuse to jail the perpetrators at Goldman Sachs for selling trillions in fraudulent financial instruments that crashed the world economy.

Our governments discredit morality and the law by twisting it in knots while handing money to society's enemies.  They abuse our personal liberty by criminalizing screwing in a light bulb, using too much salt, or owning a gun while they allow Wall Street thugs and Main Street thugs to rob us while smirking for the cameras. 

Are they discrediting law and liberty on purpose?  Am I the only one who sees this?

Whether you’re looting Main Street or Wall Street, or passing incomprehensible laws, or just entertaining yourself with ball sports, porn and XBox while you wait for your messiah...

Heavy hangs the sun blazing down upon a blistered landscape

I headed into the gym early Sunday morning and jumped on the elliptical machine to get my blood moving before lifting.  The wall of TVs offered up sports, that MTV Jersey Boobs and Biceps show, and various news programs...

Perpetual government gadfly Gene Sperling:  bla bla bla...  So our military and our old people can get paid...  bla bla bla...  The president is committed...

Mark Zandi of Moodys came on and said it would all be high tides and green grass and the economy would recover if DC would just raise the debt ceiling.  Gloria Borger nodded in agreement instead of laughing in his face.

Fareed Zakaria asked why we even had a debt ceiling at all?

The funniest one of all was CNN asking the president of GM about how to be successful in a down economy.  I was only looking at the captions, no sound, but I could imagine his answer.

"Well Gloria, just tell the feral government you'll collapse and destroy hundreds of thousands of jobs.  Ha ha!  Don't worry, they're too stupid to see through the scam.  Ha ha ha!  They'll stab the taxpayers and bond holders in the guts so fast it'll make your head spin.  Before you know it, you'll be swimming in other people's money!"

All this was performed by our press and their government guests with a straight face...

Here's something the soap opera disguised as news won't tell you:

The military, retirees and social security recipients have already been paid, so the drama and the stupid Countdown to Debt Ceiling Armageddon clock are all BS, aimed to keep us all in a perpetual state of panic and looking to The Government like the Munchkins eagerly look to The Wizard when the wicked witch of the west mounts her broom. 

We could go another month without defaulting.  It would take some brains over at treasury to prioritize, so Geithner and Obama are not up to the task, but there are probably some wiz kids over there who can figure it out.

The World is a Messy Place, and Global Elites Want to Clean it Up, Organize it.

The international oligarchy looks down from on high and frown upon us, little ants going about life, doing what we will, refusing to march to the master drummer.  They don't like it.  They need us marching in a line carrying money to the governments, all to protect their rent streams.
